Eve, a second soprano/first alto, has been with the chorale for about 16 years and is frequently seen wearing an interesting scarf. The piece she most enjoyed performing with the group was the Faure Requiem.
Eve has lived in Belmont Shore all her life and lives behind the house her mother grew up and still lives in. Growing up, Eve studied piano and played the flute in the Rogers Junior High School band. Her first voice teacher was Bev Kelly, a local jazz singer. She attended UC Irvine and sang in various choirs there. “I learned from some of the best directors of choral singing, including one of Eliza’s influences, Joseph Huszti, who is still going strong, “ she says.
Singing with the Long Beach Chorale is important to her because, as she says, “it fulfills my passion for song and my need to be a part of a team effort. It brings me joy.” When she’s not singing, Eve is taking care of her family, reading, visiting with friends, listening to the radio and dancing along. Music that might be playing if you stopped by Eve’s house would include Debussy’s Clair de Lune, Imagine by John Lennon, Tchaikovsky’s First Symphony, Beethoven, the Beatles, or Joni Mitchell and her ilk.
