Martee Dorn-Nott is thrilled to be back with the Chorale again; she sang with LBC back in the ‘90s when the Chorale was just getting started. Born in Pasadena, she grew up singing in choirs beginning in elementary school and even took voice lessons in high school from her youth choir director- Jonathan Mack. Yes, that Jonathan Mack, the Tenor!
Martee comes from a very musical family. Her grandparents, parents, and brother have all sung in choirs at First United Methodist Church of Pasadena.
Martee moved to Long Beach in 1978 and loves living in Belmont Shore. Her career in outside sales focused on advertising for local newspapers and cable TV. Her current position is as an independent consultant for a premium skin care company.
In 2000, Martee joined the “Tall Club of Orange County” (did you notice she’s tall?) Martee tried out for the “Miss Tall Orange County” pageant. It was during her “campaign” for Queen that she met her future husband, Steve Nott at a Tall Club dance.
Martee won the pageant- and served as “Miss Tall Orange County 2001.” Her duties as Miss Tall OC included attending many Tall Club events, parties, and interviews with newspapers and television, promoting the benefits and difficulties of being tall. Martee and Steve were married in October 2001 the day after she crowned the Miss Tall Orange County of 2002.
In 2003 her husband Steve was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Steve and Martee joined the So. Cal. Multiple Sclerosis Society and created a fundraising team for the annual MS walk. Their team, called “The Nottheads” became one of the top 100 fundraising teams for several years. Her home-based business also allows her to help care for Steve who continues his career at Long Beach container terminal in the Port of Long Beach. Steve can’t wait to come to our concerts!
Martee is an avid photographer, enjoys gourmet cooking and baking. But her biggest love ,besides music of course, are horses! Martee and Steve have one four-legged child, their infamous cat “Moo Moo” who provides hours of “furry therapy” and laughter.
Martee is honored to belong to such an incredible group of singers who have all welcomed her with open arms. She is ecstatic to have the opportunity so learn so much from Eliza and can’t wait for the upcoming concerts that are planned.
Don’t worry, Martee promises to leave her tiara at home in honor of the “no bling” dress code policy for our concerts!
